1989年11月-1996年03月,在中科院武汉病毒所任助理研究员 ;

1996年03月-1999年05月,在中科院武汉病毒所任副研究员;

1999年05月-现在,在中科院武汉病毒所任研究员,虫媒病毒媒介控制学科组组长;

1995年-2003年期间,分别在法国CIRAD、巴斯德研究所、丹麦皇家农业和畜牧大学、丹麦国立环境研究所和美国ILLINOIS大学从事合作研究;

2004年-2013年,任中科院武汉病毒所党委书记,副所长;

2012年至今,任中国科学院武汉分院院长、武汉国家生物安全实验室主任。
